What would the summer be without them? Nice. Thought I would share some essential oil solutions for the common bug problems since they are so easy and at the same time help us.
There are natural alternatives to using toxic chemicals for our pest problems. Its great to be able to repel bugs while helping ourselves and our environment at the same time.
How to use oils for Pest Control
Pistol grip squirt bottle or spray bottle
Filled with water and
A 3-10 drops essential oil
Shake well and spray away.
ANTS, BEETLES, CATERPILLARS, COCKROACHES, FLEAS, MOTHS, PLANT LICE, GNATS and SPIDERS: are all repelled by Peppermint, Spearmint, Thieves and/or Purification.
Ants will not cross a line of Peppermint or Spearmint. Put across any entrance they use. Peppermint on a cotton ball will also repell MICE.
APHIDS: Cedarwood, Hyssop, Peppermint or Spearmint – Mix 20 drops in 2 quarts salt water, shake well and spray on plants.
SLUGS, SNAILS, WEEVILS: Cedarwood, Patchouli or Pine oil
CUTWORM: Thyme or Sage
BEES: Purification, Melrose or Pan Away
MOSQUITOES: Lavender, Peppermint, Spearmint, Lemongrass, Purification and/or Eucalyptus. 10 drops Purification in a spray bottle of water is a great repellent.
TICKS: Lavender, Lemongrass, Sage, Thyme, Oregano, Peppermint, or Purification
BITES: Purification draws out poisons. Lavender with Peppermint reduce swelling and infection also.
Research shows that the oils alone are repellants, when water is added, they become insecticides!
Here's the disclaimer: since this has not been evaluated by the drug administration, use under your own power.
I have just created a ready made all natural (of course) mosquito repellent, super charged with lots of oils, great smelling, good on the skin, very kid friendly, easy spritzer, non-greasy, awesome for healing bug bites (if you forget to use it before the fact), etc. Aren't I a good sales pitcher? So if you don't want to make your own, e-mail me at tstonics@hotmail.com to order yours. A 4 oz. spritzer is $7 + shipping.

Skin Soother
Skin Soother
Use Skin Soother as a protector against harmful UV rays as well as skin repairer after sun exposure. Good for use on all skin types as a light, quickly absorbed rehydrator. Helps sooth, balance and repair.
History: T's Tonic's Skin Soother was created out of a need to have both a chemical-free sunscreen for our fair, sun shy, skin combined with a lotion good for after sun exposure. We were going on a trip where sun exposure would be intense and packing space minimal. I combined a proven Myrrh sunscreen recipe with pure aloe vera and powerful skin regenerating oils hoping to have all our bases covered. Not only did we all fall in love with the feel, scent and results of this oil but we had others begging to use it. Upon getting back from our trip I found "The Oil" in high demand not only by my husband, who insisted we needed a bottle in every room, but by others needing help with various skin issues. It's been used to help rashes, eczema, acne, minor burns, dry skin and scalp, and other skin conditions with effective results.
Organic Aloe Vera- soothes sunburns and rehydrates the skin. It has been used for thousands of years on skin irritations, wounds, infections, rashes, blisters, minor burns, sunburns, acne, chapped skin, poison ivy, vaginal infections, wrinkles and much more.
Grapeseed oil - is a light oil that absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. It is rich in vitamin E and omegas, which protect and repair.
Myrrh essential oil - acts as a natural sunscreen against harmful UV rays. It is mentioned in one of the oldest known medical records and was used by the Egyptians and Arabians for sun protection and a variety of skin conditions including wrinkles and stretch marks.
Lemongrass essential oil helps repair connective tissue by stimulating the agents in the tissue to rejuvenate and reconnect. It is often used on ligaments. It is also an excellent insect repellant and has an uplifting effect on the senses.
Lavender essential oil - soothes burns and skin conditions, including wounds, rashes, acne, eczema, allergies, bloody noses, and more. It is balancing and calming to the emotions.
Elemi essential oil - has been used in skin and healing ointments in Europe for hundreds of years. The Egyptians used elemi for embalming. It is used for scars, acne, and wrinkles as well as muscle/nerve pain today.
Palo Santo essential oil – called the holy wood of Ecuador, this oil has properties similar to Frankincense and is excellent against aging of the skin.
Melaleuca essential oil – Is a rejuvenating oil known for it's anti-viral, anti-fungus, antiseptic, and regenerating abilities.
